GEODIVERSITY

Geodiversity is a relatively new term that includes the variety of rocks, fossils, minerals, landforms and soils, along with the natural processes that shape the landscape. Geodiversity encapsulates features of interest to both geologists and geomorphologists.

Through responsible management of both operational and non-operational areas and sensitive restoration schemes, around 500 nationally important geological exposures have been created and conserved by the industry. The Minerals and Nature Conservation Forum aims to improve understanding, management and opportunities for geodiversity.

In this part of our website, we aim to tell you about some of the many initiatives being undertaken by our members, offer further references, case studies and links to other geodiversity websites.
